The service is a 14 bedded Hospital Avoidance High Dependency Support Unit with 2 separate bedsits in an adjacent suite, offering flexibility in our approach to care and treatment and enabling the service to both manage periods of more intense need without needing to access acute services, and, enabling the service to respond to crisis admissions to avoid inpatient hospital admissions. The service operates as a psychologically informed environment and offers a multi-disciplinary model of working. It is staffed 24 hours a day 365 days a year, each shift led by a Registered Nurse with experience of complex mental health problems and risk management.
The service is committed to least restrictive care practices and endeavours to provide the least restrictive environment possible yet as a High Dependency Service there is the facility to offer locked/lockable care as informed by individual risk assessment and risk management plans. Alongside comprehensive assessment, formulation of difficulties and risk management we provide a wide range of therapeutic interventions and meaningful activities such as:
Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Inc. Trauma-Focussed Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Eye Movement and Desensitisation and other specific interventions such as Art Therapy as required
